Water Softening

Hard water contains elevated concentrations of calcium and magnesium salts that can form scale on heating elements, pipework and plumbing fixtures. Water softening is used to reduce hardness and the operational problems associated with scale formation.

A softening system is selected according to incoming hardness, water consumption and required capacity. In residential water treatment, softening is commonly combined with pre-filtration and other treatment stages.
