Hauled septage and similar concentrated waste streams require controlled reception and mechanical pretreatment before they enter downstream treatment facilities.

The reception stage may include separation of coarse material, removal of undesirable solids, flow measurement and controlled feeding. The exact configuration depends on incoming material, facility capacity and requirements of the downstream treatment process.
